Website design
As a general rule, AlterMedia creates websites that are linked to databases: this makes them “dynamic”, rather than “static”. The main benefit of this more powerful architecture is that our clients, most of whom have no familiarity with complex HTML coding, can personally make changes to the content of their site. To greater or lessor extents, all of these web solutions use some form of Content Management System (CMS), making them easy for our clients to use and maintain.
Unfortunately, most people judge websites solely by their external “looks”. While appearance is important to retain visitors, most websites are not built to actually attract visitors. Many beautiful websites are about as effective as a giant billboard at bottom of a dead-end street: companies have invested time and money in a website that NOBODY VISITS. And if no new prospective clients are arriving, then no new sales will be generated by the website. Instead of investing in a website that returns a handsome dividend, most companies see their website as a grudging expense, much like as printing letterhead or business cards.
AlterMedia believes your website should be generating far more income than it costs to maintain. This does not merely mean having an e-commerce area: even your online store becomes a dead expense if the only visitors who stumble on your site have no interest in your products or in making a purchase. Websites that pay for themselves are ones that, because of the architecture of the site and its integration into a web marketing campaign, can be easily found by motivated buyers who had never heard of your company before they found it on the web. First invest in a website that makes your phones ring, then worry about adding an online store... not the other way around.
AlterMedia is also available for consulting with companies who already have skilled web designers available, but who want to increase their staff's awareness of how this coding and architecture can effect the performance of their website. We are very happy to work in a consultancy position during planning and implementation of website redesigns, both at management level and alongside the coders on your staff.
